Telangana Overview

Telangana State is established on June 2, 2014 and the capital of Telangana is Hyderabad. Total area of Telangana is 114,840 km² including 111,105 km² rural area and 3,735 km² urban area. Telugu, Urdu are the official language of Telangana, which is spoken by the majority of the population. As per ISO 3166-2:IN standard, The ISO code of Telangana is IN-TG.

Telangana State is further divided in to districts for administrative purposes. Mahbubnagar is the largest district of Telangana which covers area of 18432 km² while Hyderabad is the smallest district of Telangana which covers area of 217 km². Rangareddy is the most populated whereas Nizamabad is the least populous district in Telangana State.

As of the 2011 census, Telangana has a population of approximately 35,193,978 peoples which is divided into urban population of 12,848,406 and rular population of 21,585,313. The population density in Telangana region is about 306 persons per square kilometer.
